The school of Kinesiology and Acadia Athletics are working together to provide exciting learning experiences for students and to improve high-performance student-athletes. This collaboration is beneficial for both individual students and Acadia鈥檚 varsity teams.

Acadia grad, Peter Donat (鈥�49) passed away last Monday, September 10th. After graduating from Acadia, Donat went on to study at the Yale School of Drama. He became a successful theatre, television and film actor, playing roles such as King Lear in theatre and Agent Moulder鈥檚 father in the TV series The X-Files.

Fourth year Politics student, Colin Mitchell, travelled to Geneva, Switzerland for three months this summer to work as a Junior Research Officer with the United Nations Broadband Commission, conducting research for his Honours thesis. Mitchell was the recipient of the Honours Summer Research Award, granting him $4050 to work abroad. 

Acadia鈥檚 Axemen baseball team is ready for the UBaseball season starting this September with the team鈥檚 home opening game on September 8, against the UNB Cougars. All games are in Kentville, they鈥檙e free, and on weekends. Come out and cheer them on!

The Maple League universities are offering a new, groundbreaking and multidisciplinary course exploring the theme of 鈥渢ime鈥� this Fall, demonstrating how this consortium of universities can collaborate to offer students a richer, more relevant learning experience across four campuses.

Orientation Week is just around the corner, with international students arriving on Wednesday, August 29, and domestic students on Saturday, September 1. 鈥淥-week鈥� is filled with exciting activities to welcome Acadia鈥檚 first year students to their home away from home.

The Miramichi Cup is a 鈥渃atch and release鈥� bass fishing tournament that attracts around 2000 people to the Miramichi River every year. The tournament also welcomes the Acadia Striped Bass research team each year. Students attend the event to conduct research relevant to the preservation of Striped Bass and to study the effects of environmental stressors on the fish. The team is led by Biology Professors Dr. Trevor Avery and Dr. Russell Easy.
