外流影片 and the Office of Research and Innovation recognizes the excellent research, creative, and scholarly work of our faculty researchers with the President's Award, Emerging Researcher Awards, and External Partnership Recognition Award.
President鈥檚 Research Award
The President鈥檚 Research Award recognizes established researchers who have made a significant contribution to their field while strengthening the research environment at Acadia.
The Selection Committee may consider the following criteria in selecting the recipient:
- Demonstrated excellence in research, scholarly, and/or creative works.
- Recognition by professional societies, community organizations or other external bodies.
- Prestigious contributions to the research environment internally, locally, nationally, and internationally. This can include but is not limited to the development of major research installations (e.g. a research centres and/or institutes), participation in the deliberations of a major research-granting agency (e.g. member and/or chair of a grant selection committee), and/ or other prestigious forms of service bodies of work to their field, external collaborations and partnerships.
- Positive contributions to the training and education of highly qualified personnel (e.g.: undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and technical staff).
- Research leadership on campus, including peer collaboration(s), mentorship, and engagement with the Research Office and its initiatives.
The Selection Committee reserves the right not to award the President鈥檚 Research Award in any year if there are no suitable candidates.
Emerging Researcher Awards (3)
The Emerging Researcher Awards recognize early career researchers who have made a significant contribution to their field while demonstrating leadership in strengthening the research environment at Acadia.
The selection committee may consider the following criteria in selecting the recipient:
- Demonstrated potential for excellence in research, scholarly, and/or creative works.
- Active pursuit of research funding and other collaborative opportunities.
- Notable contributions to the research environment internally, locally, nationally, and/or internationally. This can include but is not limited to the collaboration or lead of research with others, the participation in the deliberations of a major research-granting agency (e.g. member and/or chair of a grant selection committee), or other forms of service/ bodies of work to their field.
- Willingness to contribute to the training and education of highly qualified personnel (e.g., undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and technical staff).
- Demonstrated excellence in community-engaged research
- Notable contributions to the community at the local, national, and/or international levels.
- Research engagement on campus, including peer collaborations, and engagement with the Research Office and its initiatives.
The Selection Committee reserves the right not to award the Emerging Researcher Award in any year if there are no suitable candidates.
Emerging Researcher Eligibility Requirements
- Early career researchers are defined as an emerging researcher who has held their first independent academic position within the last six years, minus the length of any eligible delays in research (e.g. illness, maternity, parental).
External Partnership Recognition Award
The External Partnership Recognition Award recognizes research partners from industry or not-for-profit who have a long-standing research collaboration with 外流影片, and have contributed to 外流影片鈥檚 research environment through:
- Strength and longevity of partnership.
- Meaningful collaboration with faculty and researchers.
- Contribution to student training and talent development.
- Financial investment in research innovation and advancement of technology.
- Measurable real-world impact (economic, technical, or societal).
- Commitment to knowledge sharing and problem articulation.
- Alignment with faculty research and institutional goals.
As this is a recognition award, Research and Innovation and the Office of Industry & Community Engagement (OICE) selects the recipient.
R&I and OICE reserve the right not to award the External Partnership Recognition Award in any year if there are no suitable candidates.
Research Excellence Awards Nomination Process
Application Deadline: 2 April 2026; 11:59pm
Each year, the Office of Research and Innovation will issue a call for nominations.
Candidates can either self-nominate or be nominated by a colleague at 外流影片. The nomination package must include:
- A completed application form summarizing the candidate鈥檚 research achievement, outlining how they meet the criteria for the award
- A current curriculum vitae of the candidate
The Selection Committee will be comprised of the faculty Deans, Vice-Provost Research and Innovation, and the Executive Director, Industry and Communication.
Awards will be announced at an event in the K.C. Irving Centre on 23 April at 4:00pm.
