Sydney Taylor Lecture - Charlie Angus: There are no bystanders in the age of monsters: where Canada goes from here?

The Department of Politics is excited to announce this year鈥檚 Sydney Taylor Memorial Lecture. Sydney Taylor was a Politics student (BAH 鈥�13) who tragically left us on May 7, 2013, the week before her convocation. In her memory, the Department of Politics and the Acadia Politics Students鈥� Association (APSA) have established a lecture series, focused on her interests in human rights and the environment.
The 2025-2026 Sydney Taylor Lecture will be delivered by Charlie Angus, former NDP MP (2004-2025) for Timmins-James Bay. Before he retired from Federal politics, Mr. Angus was the NDP critic for Ethics, Federal Economic Development Agency for Northern Ontario, Indigenous Youth, Income Inequality and Affordability. He was also deputy critic for Labour. Mr. Angus is also a Juno-nominated songwriter, musician, and lead singer of the band, Grievous Angels. He is the author of 9 books and is a host with MeidasTouch-Canada Network.
Mr. Angus鈥檚 public talk is titled: 鈥淭here are no bystanders in the age of monsters: where Canada goes from here,鈥� will take place on Tuesday, March 3rd, 2026, in the Fountain Commons Great Hall between 6:30 and 8:30 pm.
