IODE Nova Scotia supports Education student

by Turner, Sherri

Second-year Bachelor of Education student Victoria Rombaut is the 2017 recipient of the annual IODE Nova Scotia Annie G. Murray Memorial Scholarship.

The $1,000 scholarship was initiated in 1986 after Murray’s death and was initially awarded to a second-year student at the Nova Scotia Teachers’ College. Since the College closed and Murray attended ÍâÁ÷ӰƬ, it was passed by the Provincial Chapter of Nova Scotia IODE (now known as IODE Nova Scotia) that the scholarship be awarded to a student enrolled in the second-year of the Bachelor of Education program at Acadia.

Murray was a dedicated teacher, a loyal IODE member and was involved in many community activities. She was a graduate of Ladies Seminary, Class of 1911, and was Valedictorian for her graduating class.

The following are the Terms of Reference for the IODE Annie G. Murray Memorial Scholarship recipient:

  • enrolled in the second year of the Bachelor of Education program at ÍâÁ÷ӰƬ.
  • maintain a good academic record.
  • in need of financial assistance.
  • involved in extra-curricular activities.
  • a person who would contribute to the quality of life of those around them - to exemplify the life of Miss Murray.
