Axewomen in Calgary for CIS Final 8

The AUS Conference champion Acadia Axewomen basketball team is preparing this week for the CIS Final 8 Championship. They will open the tournament against the fourth-seeded Windsor Lancers.

Seeded fifth overall, Acadia will start its road to a National title on Saturday, March 17, 5 p.m. (Mountain Time) at the Jack Simpson Gym at the University of Calgary. The eight-team competition concludes Monday, March 19 with the gold medal final at 7 p.m. local (10 p.m. AST).

A pre-game rally will be held starting at 2:30 p.m. (MT) Saturday at Moose McGuire’s, 25-1941 Uxbridge Dr. NW. Join Donnie Ehler (’83), Office of Advancement, and then proceed to the game from there. To get a map, please visit: .

Should the Axewomen win the opener, they will tip off Sunday evening at 7 p.m. in semi-final #2. Alumni are invited to get together again at Moose McGuire’s two hours before this and subsequent games involving Acadia. Look for updates on the Acadia Alumni Facebook Group page: .

Tournament pass and session tickets are available. All seating is general admission and you can order tickets online at or purchase them at the Dinos’ ticket office on game days.

Shaw TV and NBA TV Canada will carry the two Sunday semi-final games live. Shaw TV will also carry the final live, while NBA TV Canada will broadcast the final on a two-hour tape delay (9 p.m. local / 11 p.m. ET).
