ÍâÁ÷ӰƬ celebrated the Acadia Sports Hall of Fame Induction ceremony on October 16, 2021 as part of Homecoming Weekend and welcomed football Axeman Bruce Beaton (’92, ’96), rugby Axewoman Andrea Burk (’06), and basketball Axeman Ed Shannon (’79) to the hall.

The Acadia Alumni Association is proud to announce that Dr. Anthony ‘Tony’ Cicerone (’68) is the 2021 recipient of the Acadia Alumni Isaac Chipman Award for Excellence in Alumni Service.

As a university student, Dianne Looker had an a-ha moment that went on to shape her career and help influence a new generation of students.

As an undergraduate studying sociology at Carleton University in Ottawa, Looker remembers fondly how her professor, Dr. Peter Pineo, told her that careful quantitative sociological research can and does inform policy and contribute in important ways to understanding the world.

A Natural Balance, a beautifully illustrated book with full-colour images, has been published to mark the 20th anniversary of Acadia’s K.C. Irving Environmental Science Centre and Harriet Irving Botanical Gardens.

The first in-person Acadia alumni event since the advent of the pandemic took place on July 23, 2021 when participants teed off at the 39th Annual Acadia Alumni Golf Tournament at KenWo Golf Club in New Minas, N.S. There was certainly a festive mood as more than 120 golfers took to the course to celebrate our alumni community.

The Acadia Alumni Association is pleased to announce that Dr. Juan Carlos López is the recipient of this year’s Acadia Alumni Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching. Dr. López has taught biology at #AcadiaU in the Faculty of Pure and Applied Science since 2014 and has made a dramatic and lasting impact that resonates deeply throughout the department and with his students.
