ÍâÁ÷ӰƬ will receive a one-time investment of $22 million from the provincial government to address deferred maintenance requirements on its 250-acre campus. The government announced today, March 28, 2022, that it is investing $105 million to improve infrastructure, foster research and enhance healthcare and training at the province’s rural universities.

Acadia surprised students with an unexpected organic pop-up dining hall takeover to mark the start of our official campaign to becoming an ‘Organic Campus’. This event is the first to represent the National Organic Campus program and was sponsored by Nature’s Path Foods., North America’s largest organic breakfast and snack brand.

The Acadia Axewomen are AUS champions again, winning its third banner in the past four championships. 

The Axewomen had a dramatic 71-65 comeback win over the Cape Breton Capers (4th seed), led by AUS most valuable player of the year, Jayda Veinot (Port Williams, N.S.) to secure the 2022 Subway AUS Basketball Championship.

ÍâÁ÷ӰƬ's Department of Athletics announced today, a record 150 U SPORTS Academic All-Canadians from the 2020-21 academic year. The previous record was 122 set in 2019-20.

"The record number of Academic All-Canadians at ÍâÁ÷ӰƬ speaks volumes about the quality of our student-athletes, and also our coaches, staff, professors, and the entire campus community," said Dr. Peter Ricketts, Acadia President, and Vice-Chancellor. "These students make Acadia extremely proud, and they represent the very best of what university sport is all about."

Students are back in class at ÍâÁ÷ӰƬ and the academic term will be completed on time following the four-week disruption to instruction during collective bargaining.  
Earlier this week, the University Administration and the Faculty Association agreed to binding arbitration to resolve outstanding issues related to the 16th Collective Agreement for 350 faculty, instructors, librarians, and archivists.  

The four week long strike by the ÍâÁ÷ӰƬ Faculty Association (AUFA) has ended and classes will resume on Thursday March 3, 2022. This follows three days of mediation between Acadia and AUFA with provincially-appointed Mediator William Kaplan. While no agreement was reached in mediation, the parties have agreed to send all outstanding items to arbitration under Arbitrator Kaplan, the decision of the arbitrator will be final and binding.

The bargaining teams for ÍâÁ÷ӰƬ and the ÍâÁ÷ӰƬ Faculty Association (AUFA) have been in mediation for the last three days with provincially-appointed Mediator William Kaplan. This mediation was aimed at reaching a renewal collective agreement that would end the AUFA strike and get the students back to class as soon as possible.

Acadia student Leah Creaser has made an impact advocating for Indigenous students, communities, and issues at Acadia, including the creation of a new lab course that focuses on Indigenous ways of knowing.
