Youth from across Nova Scotia will be on a mission February 4 at 外流影片 as they compete to design and program robots for special missions.

Two fast-paced competitions, one each for teams, at the high school and middle school levels, will foster interest in computer programming, science, math, problem solving and teamwork..

High school teams will develop robot hardware and computer software to tackle challenging problems developed at Acadia that require sensing and moving objects in partially known environments. Middle school teams will join nearly 200,000 students from around the world tackling the 2011 (FLL^芒) 鈥淔ood Factor^庐鈥� Challenge. To successfully complete their challenge, team members will research, build, and program LEGO^庐 MINDSTORMS^芒 robots to explore ways food can become contaminated. That may be from exposure to insects and creatures, unsterile processing and transportation, or unsanitary preparation and unsafe storage. Teams will propose real-world solutions for preventing or combating contamination. Through hands-on experience and working in teams, all of the participants have a chance to gain an appreciation for, and interest in, science and technology.

WHAT: More than 300 youth on 43 teams go head-to-head, putting five-months of research, design, and programming to the test in a regional Championship Tournament to win honours and recognition. The FLL season will culminate with the FLL Open North America Championship in May 2012.
