Canadian journalist, social justice activist, and feminist, Judy Rebick will be giving a public talk on 鈥淭ransforming Power: The Role Feminism can Play in the Face of a Right Wing Government鈥� at 外流影片 on Friday, November 4, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. at the Atlantic Theatre Festival (ATF), Main Street, Wolfville.

Judy Rebick is a well-known social justice activist, writer, educator and speaker.  She is the founding publisher of rabble.ca, Canada鈥檚 most popular independent online news source, where she continues to blog and podcast on the site. She is perhaps best known to Canadians as a former president of the National Action Committee on the Status of Women, Canada鈥檚 largest women鈥檚 group. During the 1990s, Judy was the host of two national TV show on CBC Newsworld.  She is a frequent commentator on CBC radio and television, including being a regular on the media panel for Q with Jian Ghomeshi.

Judy has been a lifelong activist.  She most recently helped to lead a fight against the intense police repression during the G20 in Toronto. Judy has just stepped down after eight years as the CAW Gindin Chair in Social Justice and Democracy at Ryerson University.

Her latest book is Transforming Power: From the Personal to the Political. Her other books include Ten Thousand Roses: The Making of a Feminist Revolution (Penguin 2005) and Imagine Democracy (Douglas and McIntyre 2000). She is currently working on a memoir of her life in the 1960s.
