Celebrating warmer days ahead at the Mid-Winter Feast

The Acadia community gathered to welcome the warmer days ahead at the Mid-Winter Feast last week.

The traditional Mi鈥檏maw gathering celebrates the fact that the worst of the winter is over, and we are heading for longer days, warmer temperatures, and to give thanks for blessings of life, health and sustenance.

Elder Dr. Gerald Gloade explains that 鈥渋t鈥檚 sort of like the Mi鈥檏maw version of Groundhog Day.

Darlene Peters Copeland (Indigenous Student Programming Advisor) says she was honoured that Dr. Gerald Gloade shared his knowledge and wisdom through his presentation. S丑别鈥檇 also like to thank everyone who participated in the feast, from the two Elders, Dr. Lorraine Whitman and Dr. Joe Mike for the opening prayer song and drumming, to all the students, staff, alumni, faculty, and community members who came out.

鈥淎nd a big thanks to the caterers for a fantastic feast!
