Charged up! Acadia unveils first EV charging station
外流影片 celebrated the official launch of its first electric vehicle fast charging station and the Government of Canada's contribution of $50,000 to the project through Natural Resources Canada鈥檚 (EVAFIDI). The funding announcement was made by Kody Blois, Member of Parliament for Kings鈥揌ants, on behalf of the Honourable Seamus O鈥橰egan, Canada鈥檚 Minister of Natural Resources. The Town of Wolfville also contributed $25,000 to establish the charging station.
Blois was joined by Kings South MLA Keith Irving and Wolfville Mayor Jeff Cantwell, who each spoke about the importance of growing local sustainable transportation infrastructure. Acadia's Dr. Peter Ricketts (President and Vice-Chancellor), Jodie Noiles (Sustainability Coordinator), and Alex Surette (BSc '22, ASU Sustainability Officer) also discussed the collaboration that made the new Level 3 fast charging station possible. They were joined by Dr. Gabrielle Donnelly (Assistant Professor and Graduate Student Coordinator, Community Development) for a demonstration with her Nissan Leaf EV.
The station, located at the front of Acadia Athletics Complex parking lot, is now available for public use and operates as part of the flo network.
